year on 13th and 14th, April 2012" packages.
Introduction:
Bisket Festival
The festival of Poles and Chariots has been created to celebrate the
Nepali New Year every year. This festival is celebrated for 9 days,
giving the actual and the most importance to 30th of Chaitra and 1st
of Baisakh e.i. 12th and 13th of April this year. During these two
days, the following cultural activities take place in different
locations of the city.
1.Erection of Poles at two main squares – an exciting moment to
experience the authentic and purely newari traditional culture, simply
live. (Poles Erections – one in the morning at around 10 – 11 AM at
Pottery Square & another one at around 5 -7 PM approx. at a place
called Bhelukhel). This is a very colorful day and one can enjoy
colorful crowd throughout the day
2. Before the erection of the main Pole at Bhelukhel, a huge chariot
is pulled down towards there to mark the celebration of the New Year.
By religious value, the God in the chariot goes to Bhelukhel to grace
a huge mass people gathered there to erect the pole. Here the sight of
chariot pulling and erecting of the pole are something that no one
should miss.
Cost Includes:
a) Room in standard guest house
b) 3 Meals (breakfast, Lunch and Dinner) at tourist restaurats
c) Choices of Set Meal – Nepali, Chinese or Continental
d) Special Cultural Tour covering the whole day wise event and activities
